Thanks 🙂
Actually, it's a power amp - there's no volume control as it's controlled by a preamp. The double RCA acts as a passthrough to daisychain multiple amplifiers.

Fun fact - if I put my hand under the amp where the choke is, I can feel the case vibrate to the music from the magnetic field... That choke is insane but so it the amp. Idle current is 320mA+@560V - 180W of flow through it with music 🙂
Great looking build, very classic on top, very modern inside!
Is the module in the middle one of those 12/24V to 220...380 AC from China? I've been looking at those as high voltage source, are they reliable?

Yes, it's a 12V - 110-200-220-280V module configured as a voltage doubler for 560V for the front end.
The ones with black heatsinks have been reliable for years for me but I got some different ones with silver heatsinks and two failed quickly. I think the 3525 chips are bad or something.
These ones are the last ones I ordered that worked like I expect.

Thank you for the information. Yes, I have been concerned about the fact that the SG3525 chip is usually put in a socket, for quick replacement. I will order some to see how it goes. The wattage figures look widely optimistic.Yes, it's a 12V - 110-200-220-280V module configured as a voltage doubler for 560V for the front end.

I use one to power a stereo push pull 6P15P amp. I find the transformer gets hotter than the FETs... On occasion, I've blown the FETs up (don't short the output LOL) but they were easy to replace and cheap. If I had a desoldering station, I'd try and repair it, but taking out DIP-16 chips using wick is annoying at best.
They do state "no overload protection whatsoever", no false advertisement here 🙂I use one to power a stereo push pull 6P15P amp. I find the transformer gets hotter than the FETs... The price is so ridiculously low that it is impossible not to buy them.
To be honest, I had one draw enough current @ 12V to melt the insulation on a 15 inch length of wire due to a shorted output - that one still works. too.
This is my latest project.
It's my own design using D3A / 6B4G SE-amplifier.

It's sounds just fantastic!

So I build another switch and now I can have 9 different amps switched between 4 sets of speakers... What a bastard... They both need to run from the same side of the fuse box... that means I needed to run an extension cord but it works and the hum is minimal.
Also, Nigel and Grey (the guinea pigs) say Hi!
And for poops and giggles, here's the opposising view of my little apartment.
They crooked artwork sums up my life at the moment...

That looks like a real man cave! I didn't notice the artwork?
I'm jealous because my wife would only let me have a setup like that in the garage, then complain about my choice of music and the volume.

I think you need another tube amp... I thought I had a lot of tubes around... This is giving me ideas... I have more spots on the table on my side. Do you sell the amps?So I build another switch and now I can have 9 different amps switched between 4 sets of speakers... What a bastard... The one on the lower left is being rebuilt this week...
Yes, I'll sell them but I haven't really attempted to market them yet. Some of them we're prototypes, too. The ones in the aluminum chassis are point to point even.

Koda, THIS.. IS.. the environment I would be proud of in my university years.. khe-m. Though, by now I got it.. um-m.. spacier.here's the oppositing view
Anyways. And the New Balance running shoes is still in my sport gear list, too. Got just today apair of 990v5, these are the classics
What I can further suggest: get apair of cheapest Magnepans (like $300) and hung them horizontally up to ceiling (in the corners) on the wall opposite to the bed and tilted towards the listening point.. you gotta now to enjoy a lot of (contemporary) jazz before falling asleep ))

Thanks Jim;Splendid display!
I'm particularly interested in the case ...Looks like mahogany?
And then the machining-
Either 3 axis CNC router or some large diameter ball nose bits?
Jim
It's all old school. A Precision Mathews mill with five axis capability. I don't really need CNC as these things are pretty much just "one off pairs". In the spirit of diy learning my son is teaching me auto cad so I can get a better idea of the cases before I drill holes.
The wood is padauk.
Cheers; Glenn
Look gentlemen what I've found on one Russian website... 2x50W output sourcer. 😀
