Phono stage with remote transformer?

I was thinking about the fact that when I build a solid state phono stage I always have a lower noise floor if I have the transformer/power supply separate from the the device. This also holds true for my Technics SL1200 turntable, taking the transformer out lowered the noise floor.

I have a Hagerman Cornet 2 phono stage which has the transformer on top behind the rectifier.

My question is: Do you think moving the transformer away from the amp would lower the noise floor?

BTW I was an electronics tech in the 70s and am aware of the issues with a high voltage umbilical. 😱

The passdiy Pearl phono stage kit recommends the power supply be in a separate chassis.

Personally I'm running a Hagerman Bugle 2 off of batteries, but i don't think that is feasible for a Coronet.
