Phono problems one side working

Hey everyone! I would love some help if possible. I inhereted a 80s-90s Rega Planar 3 (i believe it's a 3) and am having troubles setting the bloody thing up. I bought a new amp a little while ago and didn't realize that there was no phono input. (amp is a Harmon Kardon avr1600) So I decided to spend a little money and buy a new phono preamp. (Music Hall 2) My problem is that the new phono pre amp is doing the same thing as my crappy Pyle preamp. If I have all four (4) RCA cables plugged into it there is little to no sound out of both speakers. If I unplug one of the cable ends (no matter which input or output) it will give me great sound out of one side of the speakers only. I was thinking that it might be a cable issue but I don't know how to check the ones coming out of the turntable. Has anyone had this happen? I've been searching the net and not found anything. Oh, and If I hook the turntable up to the old amp, with a phono input, there are no issues.

Got a pile of feed back like the amp was being over powered but that was probably because I used my iPhone as a source instead of a low power source like the turntable. Otherwise the signal was strong. No problems from the preamp to the stereo it seems.

So I did some digging and tested all the wiring from the needle to the RCA ends. It all seems to check out. I put it all back together and tested it all again and the stereo is doing the same thing. If I have both channels plugged into the preamp the sound is bass less and quieter than if only one channel is plugged in. Same if it's unplugging the in or out.

Sounds like the wires out of the cartridge are out of phase and cancelling the bass. Check again....
