Phono preamp and BOZ

Hi to all! Greetings from the south of the world.
This week I found the time to experiment with somes phono preamps.
Yesterday I tested a prototype for the P06 from Rod Elliot (Hi-Fi RIAA Phono Preamp) in a protoboard and I am very surprised for the quality of the sound. For a circuit built in a protoboard, the noise is very low and the mid range and treble are clear and good for my ears.
Once i probe that the circuit worked well, I decided to do a new experiment by adding my bride of zen. My first impression was that the bass and mid range were improved but the voices and treble was decreased. I am not totally pleased with the result and I think the sound can be improved. Can it be the coupling capacitors? Maybe if i replace it with some audio capacitors (like Solen or Audyn) the sound can be improved?
The capacitors used in my BOZ are EPCOS Polyester Capacitor PET, 1uf and 10uf and 10% of tolerance.
Could you please give me some advices?
