Philips CDR-820 'audio' CD-R/RW Disc - Where?

I've recently acquired a Phillips CDR-820. Blasted thing wont let me test the recorder portion with any of the CD-Rs I have laying around, I realize now it wants a special "audio" CD-R type. Where can I get one? Or, what specific disc brand / model should I be on the lookout for?

I'm hoping I dont need to spend a lot just to figure out if this unit can successfully copy a music CD. It's for sale either way. Of course, it'd be better if I could point out that the recorder portion has been tested and works. The 3-Disc playback half works; it'll skip if you bump the chassis.

Thanks for any help / suggestions.

is what you are looking for.
Audio disks have a code written into the header of the TOC portion that tells the DC recorder that you have paid the the extra and can record music on to it. Without this code, the disks will not work on those recorders.

I doubt the musicians ever see any of the extra.

I can see 'em all sitting around a conference room table, with their ancient Polycom conferencing systems -

Engineer: "And we can easily codify the blanks so only certain products work with certain machines"

Marketing: "Brilliant! I bet that'll screw someone but good 30 years from now..."

<Uproarious laughter>

...I read through that other thread what you have to go through to undo that one.
