Philips CDPRO 2 laser transport issue.

Greetings,
I had the pleasure (dis??) of purchasing a HIFIDIY BIG CD kit from Aune Audio (?) in China some months back, which uses the Philips CDPRO2 CD transport.

The 72 page assembly manual written partially in the finest Chinglish was quite baffling to say the least. The accompanying photos in the manual were the saviour of the project. But the player sounds good and the display is great.

Any negativity aside, I have a problem with some CDs rubbing on a raised channel portion along the laser lens transit line.
I don't know if this is a generic mechanical issue with this transport with tolerances set too fine, or my unit is out of spec.

On some CDs, if I refit the magnetic clamp, and reposition the CD on the drive spindle there is no rubbing. But on others, no matter what I do the CD still makes contact, and after some playing in this condition, scratches the CD.
I was wondering if I get a different magnetic CD clamp, it may improve things. But apart from that I can't see a workable solution.

Any ideas or known fixes would be greatly appreciated.
