Hi, I've had a Philips CDC 935 5-disc changer for many years, and it has always been way too sensitive and often gives errors and skips on particular CD's that present no problem in other players that I have owned (including other Philips'). Its very frustrating. Cleaning the discs and/or the laser (with a cleaner disc) sometimes helps, sometimes doesn't (I guess its hard to tell). I realize I should have sent it back when first received it but I had been hopeful that it was only a few discs, which is not the case. Its way too late for that now. But I find myself listening to music a lot more these days and its become quite frustrating again.
My question to you is, is it possible that the laser has always been slightly misaligned or something like this, and a good repair person will be able to tweak it to get it working normally again? Or is it a chip problem which might be more complicated or expensive. Would like to get some feedback before I bring it in.
thanks,
Wayne
