Im trying to fix a broken cd100
when got the player i hooked it up it had like 70% distortion in one channel en the other was dead.
so i thought a change of the elecrtolytics was in order. but to my suprise nothing happend, same problem remains.
ok so started poking around and i started to suspect the M4551 chip, its equal to saa7030 right? it gets hot like hell and i believe its a short between gnd and pin leading to dac on the dead channel....dont have the thing infront of me at the moment so i cant say pin numbers
only way to get one of those is to find yet another player an trash it ?

Have you checked all the voltages to make sure they are correct ?
A dead channel is usually a stuck output relay - check by shorting .
