Hi Andrea,
You mean the DAC inside, as the CD960 is a CD-player?
The CD960 is built like a tank but circuitry looks very much the same as the CD650. I have experience with two CD650's and I find the CD931 much better as a transport. I don't use the built in Bitstream DAC though it is not very bad.
Nicer Machines
Such as?
Better sounding as a transport?

Sorry, I made some confusion... I meant DAC960

DAC960
Hi ,
The DAC960 has the TDA1541 inside and a Philips receiverchip.
I am not a fan of the TDA1541 but others are. In the Pooge Chronicles and in the Audio Amateur a lot of mods are presented by Walt Jung and Hampton Childress.

Positive is that CD931 has CDM9 which is quite OK. Now compare with an Arcam with CDM9 in it, you'll be surprised.
I have the Philips 950 and the Arcam Alpha 5+. Both use CDM 9 transports. IMHO, the Philips 950 is much better than the Arcam.
Re: CD960
Thanks.
How about the Philips 880 aka Marantz 85? I have one but I don't know what lens it uses.
Any idea where to get CDM1,2,4Pro?

Philips CD950
Hi Prometheus,
Isn't the Philips CD950 very similar to the CD931 and 940?
Pictures from the CD931 here: Ooops forgot where. Bricolo has the link.
