philips... I Like
Hi all,
I also got a lot of Philips drivers.
A lot of people in the Netherlands who start in DIY audio use them. They're cheap and can be found in secondhand stores for a dime (ok, lately the dime grows bigger but that goes for everything, not only for vintage audio)
Over the years, I obtained some AD9710's, AD1265's, AD1065's, AD1260/M800's, AD5780/M800's.......
My main system is using a pair of AD3800AM´s
These are 800ohm drivers,
and I drive them with Philips HF303 sepp otl monoblocks. (2x EL84 / 10W each)
Made a pair of fullsize (2,44meters high) Voigt pipes (TQWP),
and just LOVE the combination
Even friends who own much more expensive / exotic gear give me full praise 'bout my sounds
There is certainly a lot of fun in old Philips drivers.
They're efficient and with the right enclosure and damping,
they can sound at least 10 times their value

Nice to see these Philips drivers.
I just used them to build a Little Boy TQWT.
Bass is not as deep as with my old Tannoy Mercury MK II, but the pinpoint and detailing is far better.
I use an EL84 tube amp in pushpull (triode) to drive these speakers.
After mounting some spikes the bass improved.
