Thanks!

I'm really enjoying this QA-1200, the quality is superb
and with some tweaking on the video settings, the
contrast ratio is not bad at all.

I am going to try a Plastex screen today and see if
it will make any improvements over my bright-white satin
wall projection.

I read somewhere that a grey-ish Dalite Screen does wonders
for LCD projection.. maybe one day.. 😉

You know, I have been doing a lot of reading over on AVS
forums about screens. Some people say that have a grayish-silver
screen is better than white matte, for LCD projectors, because
it helps with the contrast levels (grey absorbs the semi-blacks
of LCD projectors, and reflects back truer blacks).. of course,
people say that this will take away the vibrance of the colors.

I haven't got the Plastex yet - I was feeling sick last
weekend so didn't stop at Lowes 🙁. I will go this weekend and
get it. I wonder how Blackout cloth performs compared to this
Plastex? I guess I will have to experiment - at least they should
not be too expensive to try both... heck I can even return
the plastex for refund in case blackout cloth does better.

Also, my bulb died on Sunday 🙁 , and I'm trying to find the cheapest
source of FXL bulbs online, so it will be a while until I get
to enjoy my home theatre again. Just don't feel like shelling
out $30 at office depot for a bulb that lasts only 50-75 hours.

I totally agree, QA-1200 is great, even if the resolution is only
640x480... I can't really complain, 5 feet x 8 feet screen is
plenty for me.

There is one little bummer, I have 2 dead pixels, but they are
only noticable if I make the screen too large. Otherwise, its
great.. we really lucked out... !!!

PS. one question for you - what ballast and metal halide bulb
are you using? This Buhl projector is great, and looks like it
will be really easy to retrofit, since there is a rather large
empty cavity in it where I can mount the ballast in.
