My phase linear 400 amp make loud humming when turn on for 10sec.
Could be bad power supply electrolytics. Try shorting the inputs, and see is hum is still there.

Given the age of that amplifier, even if it works it's time for an overhaul. At the same time you can make it sound a lot better.
If you don't have an oscilloscope and good DVM, plus experience, you might want to have someone skilled in audio repair look at it. With so much stored energy looking for a short cut, a slip can cause a great deal of damage. This really isn't a beginner project.
