PGA2310 in balanced config?

I was wondering if anyone has run the PGA2310 volume chip in a balanced configuration? I would like to use a relay to switch one part of the source (either the ground or the negative source in a balanced input) to ground in the case of the unbalanced input or to the second input on the PGA2310 for a balanced input - same with the output. I do not have any balanced components to test this myself but want to be able to switch each input to balanced/unbalanced.
I hope this makes sense.

I think it would work, after all the 2 signals are just opposites of each other, for the PGA2310 they'll just be 2 audio signals.

As for the relays, some simple logic could take care of that. Or you could use some logic so that when you've got an unbalanced signal the PGA2310 mutes the 2nd input (by sending the mute byte, I believe it's 8x 0, as the 2nd byte.)

Thanks for the replies - I think I will go ahead and wire it up this way and try to borrow a balanced source to test it later. Devil_H@ck, I do have a relay to switch the second leg of the source to either the 2nd input on the chip or to ground to allow a per-source selection of balanced/non-balanced.
