Peugeot Partner, bad sound.

Easiest way to improve the sound would be a line level converter from the front speakers, aftermarket amp less than 75 watts per side, disconnect the rear speakers. Use the speakers of choice for the woofer/tweeter/crossover. Will need to spend some time to damp the factory doors as well, the newer cars really are thin.

You can go further upstream and improve the analog part of the factory head unit, but unless you listen with the car not running, is a wasted effort.

No please no speaker to line level converter but true Line Out to amplifier. Way better than amplifying already distorted signal and noise.

You should remove your sunglasses.

You wrote "Tesla users" not "Tesla owners" which is very true here as many drive Tesla but do not own the company car. Very low road taxes which makes them an attractive choice for leasing (despite their high weight and very high torque that both wear out the tarmac). These cars are also state subsidised as they are supposedly green (keep believing that 😉). So tax payers pay them for a large part. When compared to smoking tobacco, no one would think it to be normal if non smokers would pay for the tobacco of the addicted 😀 Hampered comparison but I still like it.

Diesel cars are not so bad for sound and they tend to have the advantage of having huge alternators from the factory.

Soundproofing helps with the diesel rattle at idle and a BMW or Mercedes should be pretty good in that regard. There is no more noise in my BMW diesel than the petrol equivalent

I can confirm this: from the outside, a diesel MB sounds... agricultural. But inside it's alright.

Actually, the VW's ain't too bad, sound insulation-wise: 2 or 3 cars ago, I had this pre-scandal VW, I was listening to MP3's during a long drive, and found the sound very annoying after a while. I swapped in a CD, and the irritation was gone. I knew MP3 are evil, but I didn't believe it's audible in a car with the s****y OEM sound system. It is.

Personnaly, i've choosen to continue to live in a "demoracy" and the elected people, those that have to take the stinky decisions for me, have taken a dirty decision and it is a technical non sense in order to develop a new technology.
I fear the ochlocracy.

I drive the lastest generations (we are in 2020) of gasoline and diesel cars, diesel engines still have twice the compession of a gasoline motor (skyactiv motors excepted) and they are stll much noisier, a turbo-charger gasoline is barely as silent as a electric car now because it can be driven under 2000RPM on all gears and the last generation of diesel car are still coughing like a tractor in the same RPM range.

The latest generation of french sedans (and pehaps all others now, i think) are much more silent, i've rented a few of them the in order to perform measurements... the precedents models are totally outperformed, hands down.

Diesel engines have higher compression as that is a main part of their principal working.
Saying they still have higher compression is like saying tubes are still warmer than transistors.

Modern Diesel engines are way cleaner than modern gasoline engines when carbon is concerned but the Diesels do produce more nitric oxide. So do jet airplanes which essentially burn a Diesel like fuel without catalyst or carbon filter and this in copious amounts too. It is policor to fly as far as possible "to see interesting new cultures" but driving a Diesel is 666 in Europe. Corona has at least proven that the air is much much cleaner and that is for a very large part because air planes are not flying! World wide there were 47000 air planes in the air continuously......

As beta education is very unpopular many politicians have alfa education. Some calculate in colors and opinions. Many green decisions are not green at all and many old technologies are discarded whilst they are greener than their modern counterpart. It is not important that it really is better (straw man arguments are enough), the story should sound OK. Green is the new religion.

Some facts of the most recent numbers :
The new Clio (V) is the most selled car in France and 75% of them are gasoline models, it is not green at all because the green car is the Zoe and the reason is only because that the motor is as powerfull and much more silent, simply better.

PS : 20% of the diesel Clios are buyed by entreprises, if you watch the private owners stats you can consider 90% of gasoline.

If you state facts please use numbers. We both know this is off topic in this thread but it is interesting nevertheless. On the risk of having a mod interfering....

Why is the new Clio gasoline not green and why is the Zoe "green"? When you state "electric = green" the discussion is over OK ? 😉 When we want to see how green a calculation is needed comparing both cars.

* Yes Diesels are way more economic with fuel and therefor a popular choice for company cars. It is not OK in the public view to drive economic apparently. So road taxes on Diesel cars are absurd in many EU countries to discourage economic driving. Companies calculate, they would not choose more expensive Diesel cars to lease if they would be more expensive overall. The same counts for airline companies and air planes but then it is fully accepted?!

I can't find reliable certified and verified numbers, it is a journalistic source 😉
Electric is not "green at all" but it displace the pollution far away from our ears and lungs and the diesels are "666" because when i go tho work very early in the morning i wake up all my neighbors and familly with the infra sound rumble... the gasoline is so silent that i've forgotten to stop the motor the fist time i've tested it.
