You guys seem to be stuck in a loop. I`ll try to break it. For us Canuks.

CSA. That became a legendary and accepted trademark of the Canadian Standards Association, our version of the UL or Underwriters Laboratories in the USA. So along comes some twit in the recent Canadian government who assigns CSA to the Canadian Space Agency. Duh. Then there are the old octagenarian Canadians who retire vacation in Florida. Well lets see, they call themselves the CSA, Canadian Snowbirds Associaction. Assn., more like it!

...and while I`m on that last topic, bumper sticker spotted on a Floridian`s car reads `When I retire I`m gonna move to Ontario and drive REAL SLOW`.

Now, this has really reached a new low.

How about an SBD (silent but deadly), sort of the opposite of BRRRAAAAAP!

SBD is a valid acronym IMO that has been around long enough to be entrenched in the lexicon. The last person that drove the Lexicon let one fly and parked it with the windows closed. Eeeew. :dead:

Seriously, this thread was created about acronyms that have glaring errors and/or trouble some of us deeply, ....like trafos. 😡

what about PSU unit ?

That is redundant and shows the same sort of ignorance demonstrated by the marketing folks that sell plastic brakes. They call them ABS Brakes, or ABS Braking System.

Though being a valid acronym, SBD (without any explanation / context) would have me googling for half an hour.
Take your pick:

Maybe transistors are sometimes called tranny because they are three-legged 😀

Nice :xeye:
