I'm making a headamp and I'm using a 1mm steel enclosure. I want to use wood for the top and am thinking of "attaching" it to the enclosure using small magnets.
Rationally this shouldn't be a problem but...will the magnets cause any issues in terms of EMI or something else?
Thanks in advance.

Don't know if this is related but storing up close a new driver that has a 7kg magnet on it causes the regular use 7" active sub to shut down!Rationally this shouldn't be a problem but...will the magnets cause any issues in terms of EMI or something else?
I'm talking about a few small neo magnets in the wood to hold it to the metal case. Same concept as magnetic speaker grills with the difference being that the metal case is also chassis ground and encloses all the electronics. Again, conceptually I don't see an issue but I'm far from an EE so figured I'd ask.
Just make sure proximity of the magnets don’t saturate the power transformer. 60 Hz EI types tolerate this better than any other types. Randy’s sub probably used an SMPS, and a big magnet nearby could probably saturate the **** of the little ferrite core. Then you try to run the SMPS and it won’t like it.
It's class h but prolly same situation. I had the ZXI12.4D sitting on top of the z623 sub, and it shut down the sub amp. But the sat amps inside kept going. I had removed the sub driver to pick up the speaker cable to run the ZXI in free air to break it in a bit. I thought hooking it up had killed it. I replaced the sub unit with a spare and didn't hook the ZXI back up but put it back on top of the new sub. That slowly shut down too. I took the ZXI away and both came back up
Small magnets are probably not going to have any effect, but if you want to be sure then you could arrange them to keep the magnetic field outside the enclosure, perhaps by using multiple magnets in a Halbach array.
Won't have any effect, don't worry. Just dont put them where they can wipe any magnetic media you don't want to erase!
