True, the 2145 does just fine ported 4th, 3.9ft3 tuned near 30hz.
I was thinking of a 5' tall thing next to the tv, and it would get the driver near the middle of the tv (on a stand).
Sort of a column, instead of making a speaker box sit on another box, just to get it as high as I would like it.

Based on your feedback, it seems to me that you may need some room treatment (bass traps).
Otherwise, since you seem to like them with the port closed (which makes them into a big selaed box of sort), maybe it would have been better if you had built Mar-Ken boxes for them. Then, they would really get close to KEF's.
Me, I have recently bought a pair of 10.3 s, but still contemplating about the boxes. Pensils, MLTLs, or even a BiB? (i do like to get the bass out of them)...

They are not sealed. I did clamp a piece of plywood across the ports just to see what they would sound like. All that did was loose bass. With just a bit of stuffing in the port, they have nice, defined bass. As you can see in this sweep, my room has a real issue at 190hz. But they sound great and I can live with this.

Next time I set up the REW I'm going to elevate the whole speaker to see what that does to the bass.....
I expect we will see zillions of new hemp products, we have much to relearn and new things to try.

As tough as carbob fibre, 30% heavier, 10% the cost, and much, much easier to recycle.
