n70s here as well built about 3mths ago room 4.5 x 3.5 mtr also have some frugel xls with 10.3s in this room the little pensils slaughter them and also work well at low volume,i have also just built a set of 18ltr br cabs with ch110 fitted the jury is still out but it is starting to look like i have an aversion to metal units. wold love ch110 paper version as i would find the 10p a pain on my woodworking skills as i am happy to drill hole and drop driver in that is my diy skill in a nutshell,so if i decide on bigger paper i will have to look elsewhere for something that just flush mounts. in the meantime i love what the chn70s do in the pensil
Great feedback! I also have the 10p and CHR-70 in Pensils. They are all great, but I listen to the N70's the most by far. I know what you mean about flush mounting, it's a pain. I added a plunge router to my tool collection and it makes the recesses and cut outs pretty easy. I've seen some that flush mount the thick surrounds, but not sure what that does to the speaker performance? I have a pair of Alpair 10.3M still in the box and itching to build something for them, but for now I'm just enjoying what I have
Just built a pair too. And am pleasant le surprised about the bass response. I'm enjoying them. It was a happy accident. Plan was to build the golden ratio for the chr 70. Ordered the drivers, started building the boxes. When they arrived I realized I ordered the chn instead. I put them in the golden ratios anyway. Was ok but not great. So, ordered the chr70s and they were of course much better in the golden ratio. But then I had drivers without boxes so searched for plans for the chn and came across the N70. I like 'em.
