Pemoline, a drug that makes the difference from not functioning to functioning for many narcoleptics and others has been banned after urging from Public Citizen. It can cause serious liver problems, and as such is reserved as a second line drug for when nothing else works. Incidence of liver related adverse events since 1999, when it was given a black box warning in the PDR, is not as high as it is for Tylenol. :worried:

Just use an alternative like Modafinil (Provigil in the US). It's much safer, and I've even used it on occasion when I had to finish an assignment overnight, though I don't have any sleep disorder. Combined with nootropics such as the -racetam family, which happen to be slight stimulants as well (and have absolutely zero side effects reported over their three+ decade existence), should do it for many narcoleptics.

Believe me, many of these people have tried them all. I have a friend who takes Modafinil, and it can have some of the same antisocial side effects as do other psychostimulants. For some Modafinil just doesnt cut it anyhow.

Different people react differently to different drugs, what works for you may not work for another.
