What is the largest ported enclosure that can be used with a single peerless xls 10" driver ? I read the paper where it gives examples for sealed/small ported and passive radiator but they are all too small physically.
I need something that will work great in sealed or ported cabinet big enough to work as a speaker stand. I would like to make a pair and use them with my active 2 ways. Low passed fairly low, somewhere in the 100-200hz range.
thanks

Your external view of the box can be bigger than you internal volume (like a lot of floorstand speakers). Just fill the holes with damping material.

I might have mis understood this. Francois is correct. Create the outer dimensions of the box to your desired measurements, but inside, add a solid partition to the box to reduce the internal volume to that desired for the 10" XLS.
Do not put a hole in the partition between these halves, otherwise you'll "present" the full box volume to the driver.
David.
Hi
From what I remember the XLS calls for a very long port, so if you go for a vented design you can loose a lot of space to the port. but in this case you seems to want that .
But I would go for the sealed version with sandfilled partitions good for vibrations and it is never wrong with heavy speaker stands.

Thank you guys for the input. I am going to do some more research and then decide on exactly what I want to build.
