Any suggestions where I can get a replacement for a Peerless K040MRF medium frequency driver or what drivers I could use in place of a damaged unit. It looks like this.

I can't find one on Ebay in the UK. It is in a Pro9TL Mk2 cabinet and has failed completely. This thing has a sort of a can on the back of it so doesn't depend on an enclosure which makes replacement difficult.

Not sure I am competent to repair a speaker but thanks for the link.
How well do you think the Celestion HF1300 would work as a replacement? It doesn't have an open back, it is supposed to be a medium frequency driver and it seems to appear on Ebay quite often. Obviously I would buy and fit one in place of each of the Peerless K040MRF drivers.

THe HF1300 is a tweeter rather than a midrange unit that you seek .
From memory it wants to crossover at about 3kHz at least .
Probably about 10 times high er than you need
Aside from probably not working very well at all , you'd probably blow the HF1300
ie : don't do it!!!
Is there some info re equivalents for this unit based on Gale GS401 rebuilds
maybe try the new surrounds first - what have you got to lose?

Monacor SPH-135/AD can make a quite good replacement. It would need an enclosure, though.
SPH-135/AD
Or you can send your broken Peerlesse to recone at the address above.
If the surrounds are the only problem, then just send them to be professionally fitted with new surrounds. It's a no-brainer.
From the depths of the WWW:
"The Peerless 821615 units are a Wilmslow Audio recommended replacement for the original Peerless KO4MRF units that failed some ten years ago."
& (very!) alternatively : It would require massive recalculation of the XO, but there are other vintage sealed mids of the same general size. I'm thinking of the Coral ones (e.g. 5M-12) that came with their own enclosure. Look for Coral kit speakers, such as the 12SA-1, 10SA-1, and so on ...

Mission 720 refurb
Hello,
I've decided to get my finger out and re-life my lovely Mission 720 speakers which have been nothing more than plant-pot stands for the last few years. Kids poking holes in speaker cones and the inevitable cone foam powdering (due I'm told to CFCs in furniture polish in previous years) have left them decrepit....
Stumbling across this thread, I now know the mids are Peerless 4-inch but nowadays even the replacement M122 is obsolete.
The 10-inch bass is again peerless 832531, again obsolete.
Tweeter is Seas H107 1-inch dome tweeter, but they look ok.
Advice sought on the best way forward to find replacement mid-range and bass drivers. Whilst I'm not averse to buying foam kits for repair, to be honest I bought them in 1979 and did blast the hell out of them so they might be a bit tired!
Many thanks in advance...

If someone can't offer a direct replacement I'd just refoam them. I've done a few and it's quite easy.
Are the cones actually damaged or is it just the dustcaps dented?
If the cones have holes I'd try and repair them with a small amount of wood glue and something like printer paper used as a patch, obviously put on the underside of the cone for aesthetic reasons.
Speaker-Repairs do a foam for the Peerless mid but I'm not sure if they do one for the woofer.
