Wow ! 150W !! I said 50W because Scan Speak drivers are rated for 70W, and I expect them to be better designed so 50W was a safe value.

Xmax limited SPL depends on the cutoff frequency, and is not an issue :

100dB @ 83Hz
104dB @102Hz
106dB @116Hz
108dB @130Hz
110dB @145Hz

Knowing that to get 110dB @145Hz, I need 38V RMS of input, which seems far too much to me for such a small driver. 188W under 7.9 ohms at this frequency :hot: !

With 24V RMS at the input (72W), I get 106dB @ 150Hz. It is already faaaar enough for domestic listening (and I never push the volume that loud, thanks for my earing)
But this system will occasionally be used for parties, which are good moments to burn driver coils ^^

I doubt it can really reach 106dB though, due to power compression issues.

What you say about open baffle boost is surprising ! I thought the gain could be either 0dB or 6dB.

BTW : do I need baffle step compensation for a driver mounted on an open baffle ??

Hello !

Wow, I think I've not posted anything here for 3 years ^^

Well, I've chosen the 6.5" driver for my project.

The whole 3-way 24dB active-filtered system is working since October, but I still have a lot to do in the listening room of my new flat. I get a harsh peak at 40Hz and a dip around 70Hz...

Otherwise the sound is very neutral and detailed. The 15" drivers give steady low frequencies down to 25Hz. These speakers have a huge potential, but they need to be tuned ^^
