Hello guys
I just received a Peavey Bandit 112 with shorted power transistors 70473100 (direct replacements MJ-15016, 2N6228) and 70483100 (direct replacements MJ-15015, 2N3055A), both in TO3 package. I wonder if I could just use a pair of MJ2955 / 2N3055. These are readily available for 10 bucks a pair.
Any advise?
Thanks in advance

I'd stick with the recommended replacements.
MJ15016 is a slower transistor than MJ2955.
2N3055 should be the A version, Vceo is 120V v.s. 60V for the normal 2N3055.
Make sure to avoid fakes.
