PDF-problem with lasetjet 4

Hi

I have a odd problem with my toner-transfer setup.

I like to print the PCB-layout as an PDF before printing the PDF on glossy paper.

When doing this I get some "extra" graphic on my printouts from the laserjet.

The basic layout is fine, but somewhere in the print-process small rectangles are added, making the PCB close to useless. I have tried 2 different PDF generators and the results varied a little, but the 2 generators both add stuff and both in approx the same place on the PCB.

The added graphics are NOT in the PDF-file when viewed with acrobat.

The laserjet have a ton of options in obscure menu's and I have no clue about what to look for.

Any ideas?

"Print as image" is a good temporary solution, although it is really slow. Depending on the amount of memory installed, the option might cause other issues with a LJ4: Images sometimes are printed incompletely with the lower part missing due to memory restrictions...

Thanks for the fast replys

I'll try to see if there are "print as image" options.

I think the printer has "standard" (low?) memory so that might be a problem.

I think this is a problem for several PDF's but on the other hand I seem to remember some prints working fine.

Kind Regards TroelsM

This is likely a combination problem, involving your printer driver and the prnters low memory. The pdf files are simply too complex, with too many layers.

Do you have a full blown Adobe Acrobat pro, or some third-party pdf package?

Acrobat Pro has functions for optimizing and flattening files, which is likely what you need to make the files simple eough. Otherwise, print as image might help you.
