PCM63P K2 specsheet?

In the datasheet of PCM63P the grades they mention are J and K and the corresponding performance figures.
Recently I got a pair of K2 that sounds and measures surprisingly better than all the K pairs I have from different manufacturing countries. What I wanted to know but I'am still unable to find is the specsheet of these K2's. Obviously they exist but no known data is available.
Please, help me with info 🙂

Why "obviously"??? As was discussed at length in the "Fake or Real" thread you started these "higher" than datasheet grades were supplied to the specifications of the company which ordered them, which in the case of K2 was Sony. The only way you'll get the information you seek is from Sony but I'd think that your chances of persuading Sony to hand out design/purchasing specifications for a component used in 20 year old product aren't particularly good.

Yes you are right - no sony consumer gear used the pcm63p. It is listed as a part for a piece of Sony pro gear, the DABK9001 which was an optional 20-bit A-D/D-A converter module for the 24bit Sony PCM-9000 Master Disc Recorder.

I haven't been able to find much beyond that information, but the PCM-9000 was a fairly well regarded bit of gear, and was used on the remastered version of Miles Davis' "B*tches Brew" for example. Definitely aimed at commercial studio use rather than consumers.

Hi beauty_devine,

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy that you found that the “K2” is better then any “K”, both by listening and measuring. You know, when I (and my friend Manfred Hiller) were implying this, several members here refused to accept such a possibility at all.

Can you put some measurement results for the K2 on the board? may be a picture as well?

BTW, still “own” some report about new listening experience to a well "burn-in" PCM1704 Adapter (replacement for the 63K): Let’s put it like this - the PCM1704 Adapter sound better then “K”, but can’t over perform the “K2”.

Enjoy listening!

To be continued.

Greetings,

IJ.

Few figures and measurement results of Ê2 grade: spectrum @ 991Hz levels: -50, -60 è -70 äÁ:

To be compared with Ê grade @ same levels:

"No comment" as they say...
What you see on the pictures can easily be heard 🙂
