Hi all
I can only check randomly my mails (at the moment on a beach from mexican caribe ... ole'!) but I believe I received all the missing payments. I'll update the balance sheet and donate to save the children next week.
Let me know how the PCBs turn out once populated!!!
Gianluca
Ciao,
Enjoy the well deserved break! Tried the CCS configuration over the weekend on a breadboarded 26 preamp and worked just dandy!
Excellent work
Cheers,
Ale
One of my pcb's partially populated.
It has been earmarked to replace two chokes. I can't place the chokes far enough from the power transformer to prevent hum. So I'm going to try this in my DAC. 6N6P at around 14,5mA per side. So I used the IXYS 100d top spot and dn2540n3 in bottom spot. Not sure if I'll need heatsinks.
Also a question I have. Should the external cap pads be jumpered with a wire if just using it as a CCS?

Hi Ale
Post a couple of pics please

Hi Dagwood,
Attached. A bit messy but it's my 4P1L breadboarded preamplifier at 6mA....sweet!
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
from a prev post:

Yes. Use a jumper for ccs. External cap and all the other required parts for voltage controlled ccs.

Gluca,
Board works brilliant. Have added a switch to bypass capacitor and alternate between CCS and VCCS..
Also, have done some testings for a potential 4P1L/26 pre-amp

Thanks

Hi Ale
Great breadboard, did you diy it?

glad the pcbs are working.
here it is the final balance, apparently i miscalculated your total mogliaa in my old PM. the remaining money will be donated to save the children as said (25$ out of the 88$ actually were donated a while ago)
I will send the remaining balance through Paypal
Thanks
Ale
Hi Ale
Great breadboard, did you diy it?
Yes. A small metal box with multiple valve sockets and 2mm connectors. It's dead easy to test various configuration in seconds without soldering. I also have an array of LEDs with multiple taps to select the desired bias voltage
Cheers

Hi Ale
Can you post a few more pics of you breadboard??
Cheers
Just to be sure. Pic in post #264 shows potmeter in wrong position. Only p100 and p200 should be used if just the cascode CCS is utilized.
I don't think a VCCS is the same as a gyrator. That said. I still don't understand why one would choose a VCCS over a CCS?gyrator option
I did read this thread: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/tubes-valves/140699-anti-triode-sepp-how-do-best.html
But still not clear what applications this is suitable for.

Hi guys,
decided to use this module for a 10y-811.10-845 ampli where would put it at 10y and 811.10 plate which are respectively at 450 and 650 volts.
Do you see any issue for that?
Can anyone have used it at this voltage level?
Thanks for your reply!

Ciao Antonio
I used that CCS on top of a 100TH floating at +800V. You'd better use a dropping resistor on top of the CCS to protect the FET at the startup and use the high voltage version for Q100/Q200.
That amp looks interesting ... yummy!!

Luca,
thank you!
So ccs all around will be ! Choke for that use ( 80 -150 H) are expensive.
What resistor value do you use?
I have some ixys from your last GB, will use for sure.
Yours too seems impressive! How it sounds?
Mine for now is only on paper...have some components, need all iron.

That amp was a 100TH CCS loaded driving a even bigger 304TL ... dismantled after a week or so, it was way too hot. Your amp will need a ton of transformers ... I assume you are aware you need DC on filaments (current sources there too). Enjoy!
The dropping R before the CCS can be anything > 1k
