Patch Bay With Buffered Splitter/Channel Inputs Ideas

Hello, and let me start by saying I just found this forum and already love it.

I am gearing up to do some "low tech" home studio recording. The problem I have is I want to patch my main board (Alesis MultiMix) into a second board for monitoring. Neither of the boards I have access to have any direct outs and I'd like to try to build an active/buffered splitter/patch bay that would get patched into before going to either of the boards then go straight into the line in jacks on the boards.

I have searched this site and found gobs of specs and diagrams, but I really don't know how to read technical drawing and could use some help interpreting.

For example, I found this page with an attached schematic of a buffer that sounds like it would work.

But... I'm somewhat clueless as to how this is supposed to wire in realistically. IE, how does the 9v circuit close (ground) and where the hell are the two leads on the bottom supposed to go? If I dared to guess, this would be a single leg of the splitter and I would need one of these wired parallel for each output. Am I anywhere close?

I've done lots of "grunt work" soldering in patch bays and replacing capacitors etc but nothing this complex and certainly nothing from scratch. So any help would be appreciated. I don't mind doing the reading, but I need to at least know what I'm looking for.
