Passive vs Active I/V

I'm working on a TDA1543 non-os dac and I'm using 1K dale resistors as passive I/V... It sound ok but I'm curious whether active i/v would sound better or would changing resistor values/types sound better.

are active i/v stages with opamps any good or is discrete the way to go? It seems on AA and here that some people don't like opamps..

or should i just stay with the humble resistor??

It has been my experience that passive IV with a TDA1541 dac lacks the dynamics and tight bass of a discrete converter like the one posted by rbroer (search here for it).
