passive driver location thoughts

Hi - A bit of a silly/pinickity question on my subwoofer which I would really appriciate thoughts on if possible. (I suspect no real answer is possible...)
I have submitted Qs on this unit before and added mini dsp on advice given - the link at very bottom provides a pic and more information from initial Q if desired.

situation; I am now also adding the passive 12' to my 12'' scanspeak discovery sub (sold some old stuff and having a play - partially on some previous advice here)

info;
- sub is 18.5''H, 19''W, 22''L (3cu ft), position is just rear (and to right)of right main in corner of 20''x13''room(similar to REL placing advice single 2 channel Home Theater Subwoofer Placement Guide | REL Acoustics)
- however because the sub is retangular it ideally wants to be 'square' in the room, ideally with 19'' width facing down the length of the room.

Options; (before I drill a big hole in it)
op.1/2 passive or active on D face firing down room?
op. 3/4 passive or active on W face firing to left side (into room)
the issue here is the bigger face looks imbalanced facing down the room...
(op.5. opening negotiations of a brexit magnitude to discuss a diagonal placement)
any thoughts re firing driver or passive into rear or side wall might also be useful
( I can of course try out Pass/Act swaps, though not a hole exchange)

thanks,
Rob

N.B.the 3cu ft is a bit oversize from madisound reccomendation of 2.5 cu ft
- easily rectified of course, please feel free to commend on this aspect - aiming greater depth at less volume (mains have 8s xover currently set 40hz)

N.B.2 e.q; attenuations only applied. hotspots identified with single recorded tones (chromatic scale from D 73.5hz to attempted '32ft' C @ 16hz!)
