I sometimes think of getting me a real Pass Labs pre, partly for the fun of owning a piece of the real stuff . A new one is a bit expensive over here, but sometimes I see nice fresh second hands one on Audiogon with a pricetag below $2000.
Sometimes I also see a X.2 priced around $1000 and I wonder, apart from the display and remote, is there a big difference between them, or do the sound more or less the same.
Another issue is probably that the US models are 120V not 240V. Or is it easy to change that?

The voltage is still easy to change.
The X2.5 is a complete makeover, with a remote.
The X2.2 is the same thing without remote.
There are two versions of the X2 - the earlier circuit looks
a lots like the Aleph P, the later circuit looks a lot like the
2.2/2.5
Any of these are good products, and I don't lose any sleep
as to which sounds better - they are all just a little different.

Thank you very much mr Pass.
Used in combination with an diy Aleph5, maybe it is then more sensible to use an early X2?
On the other hand, a younger X2.5 is more attracting to me. For the X2.2 I have some reservations, because I dont like pushbutton volume control (I'm old fashoned I guess, I also dont really need remotes).
Is it by the way possible to use both outputs (balanced and unbalanced) at the same time (or at least have thing connected to both)? I have a doube (triple) stereo setup.
(btw there is a link error on the pass.com site. When I click the user manual of the X2.5 here http://www.passlabs.com/preamps/x2.5.htm I get the X1, not a bad deal ofcourse if that is also so in the shop)
