Listening the XP-17, I'm not shure but maybe the sound is a little more brilliant in the top octaves and lost a little of swetness and 3D imaging.......
Maybe I'm dreaming.....
Maybe I wrapped the shield too tight....
Maybe is my immagination.
I'll continue listening.
All the best

Oh! I didn't know!
Thank you Zen Mod.

Hello ACnotDC,
everything is fine, in the beginning I wrapped the shield tight around the toroid finding out later on that the transformer was much warmer than before.
For this reason I tried wrapping the shield leaving some space between the shield and the toroid.
Now the transformer is less warm, around 50 C° but allways 10 C° more than before whithout shield, allways no hum but strangely the sound quality is improved, more clear, sweet and 3D.
Did you have the same results?
Any advice?
Thank you again

Hi Valvola,
my Iron Pre used 30VA toroidal that is over dimensioned for this application because the overall power consumption is < 10 W. So I didn't noticed any temperature change w/ and w/o the shield. Whether the SQ has improved? I don't know, but the noise level was lower -6 dB.
Power consumption of XP-17 is declared 35 - 40 W.
You could check it with any simple power consumption meter.
50°C is still a comfortable temperature to the touch. It's not a cause for immediate concern, especially if the room temperature is warm.
Don't worry, toroidal transformers are designed to operate with a temperature rise of 60°C to 70°C above the ambient temperature. This means if the room temperature is 20°C, a temperature of 80°C to 90°C on the transformer might be considered normal.😎
