Powering it on from standby. I always just use the switch on the front.

When I first bought it I wasn't using the XLR shorting pins, just SE. I read the manual and added the XLR shorting pins between pins 1 & 3 as described and suddenly a loud thump (there's actually a 'crack' aspect to the sound as well it's not purely bass) is produced when powering on from standby. It's about as loud as a soft/moderate hand clap. I've tried removing the XLR pins and it's back to how it was originally.

EDIT - sorry > there is no sound at all from the speakers on power on or off when the XLR shorting pins are not used - totally silent on power on and power off. Add the pins = thump.

Just did another test. I put my DMM in record mode and then turned the amp on with the probes already in the speaker terminals. I then had it display peak mv

With XLR pins in place

L: 195.5mv peak
R: 133.2mv peak

Without XLR pins

L: 34.8mv peak
R: 5.6mv peak

I'm guessing it's this 130-190mv peak at power on that's causing the pop when the XLR pins are used.

pop is happening in moment when amp is going from sleep to fully armed mode ...... practically from state when output stage is not biased to fully biased

I know some basic things about that amp , but I'm lacking in last few details so it's better to leave PL boys to help you , either here or through e-mail correspondence
