Thank you very much for your reply!
I making plans to build Aleph J and this warms my heart. 🙂
I was worry amp is not powerful enough for those speakers.

I loved my 683s until I bought the CM8s. The CM8s adopt the midrange from the Nautilus and have a real breath of their own.
If you are building any Class A amplifier, pay a lot of attention to the PSU. My Aleph J has a 500VA transformer with twin rectifiers and then 4 x 33000uF caps. There will be returns with twin power supplies with 68000uF caps .
If you bear in mind that in order to get an extra 3dB from a 25W amplifier you would need 250W.
That’s not right is it? I’ve been under the impression for some time now that doubling the wattage increases acoustic output by 3db.....so in this case it would take a 50w amp. 250w would be around 10db
But I’m by no means the brightest bulb on this tree so school me if need be! 😛
10X power is around 2X perceived loudness. This about covers it all Bob https://geoffthegreygeek.com/amplifier-power/
Cool thx......I don’t know if I could of handled any more confusion! 😉
Not to be a pita here Matt but your article states that to double perceived output (2X) it’s 4X the wattage/power?

Nobody ever mentioned twice the sound output anyway, my questioning was in reference to the statement made that it took 10x the power to make a 3db increase, which was then verified as incorrect as I suspected.
Sorry for the upset........back to the regular scheduled programming
Edit.....and to justify my interest in this thread it’s because I’m wanting to build an aleph j for my first build......not that I’m just trolling for argument/mistakes!

One thing to note: His speakers Legacy Audio Focus HD are 4 ohm. The Aleph J only produces 13 watts into 4 ohm so if he went the DIY then the easiest solution would be to just add more output pairs than the standard 2 I think. With 3 pairs (each pair biased at ~ 875 ma) he should get ~ 30W into 4 ohm* and 50W with 4 pairs*. Although increasing the source resistors might be a good idea too to account for non perfect matching of output devices.
* If my plugging of values into the Aleph-power spreadsheet is legit that is.

Alternatively you could lower the source resistors eg use 2 pairs but bias for 1.3A each or even 1.5A each, no worries.
You could achieve this through reducing source resistors and current sense resistors.
The other option is to change the bias circuitry etc.
Quite a few options.

and wtf is with the name calling??
Yeah that guy.
He is a bloody bastard.
Hahaha
just buy a second one and do a vertical dual mono 😉Hello all
I have recently acquired an Aleph J and absolutely love
PS
or do a classic biamp with a powerful amp for woofer and AJ for mid/tw ....

To summarize, im looking for an amp with the AJ sound signature but with more fullness, weight, bloom
Thanks
Go demo a Firstwatt SIT3
It could be exactly what you are trying to achieve.
Then try an F7.
Those 2 amps would be better for your speaker and still sound very nice.
Thank you all for the input.
I think some of you have overlooked my main agenda. Read the last paragraph of my original post.
Im looking to gain more fullness, weight, body, bloom. Without sacrificing too much of the AJ character. If that is possible.
From my research, the PL amps I listed do offer more body and fullness than the Aleph J.
But which one of the amps or any other amp can provide me the AJ character but with more body, fullness, bloom?
Nelson has answered my question regarding his amps. He stated the xa30.8 might have some similarities.
Some of you have suggested other amps, (ALeph J-X, Aleph BJX, Bablefish) which Im interested in learning about. But will they give me the fullness?
Those of you who are addressing added power, Bi amp with another AJ , etc arent understanding my main goal. MORE FULLNESS AND BODY, which means I need an amp other than the AJ, not more AJ's
Additional power is secondary to my goal. But desired
Again, Im looking for an amp the can give me more fullness, body and bloom that the AJ cant provide. As well as retaining some of the AJ character. And more power. remember I have 4ohm speakers, so with the AJ, I see 12 watts. Maybe im looking for a unicorn?!
Thank you all

I also wanted to respond a little more about the power and my set up.
I am currently Bi-amping, AJ on the top and a liberty B2B on the bottom.
As I stated in my last post, my goal isnt just about additional power, although added power is desired.
Im surprised people havent questioned my set up and maybe my set up is the problem.
Which it is not. If I replace the AJ with one of my other amps, I get the fullness and body Im looking for, but I do not get that sweet AJ sound.
