So, I have a (second hand) PL X150.
It came with a pair of xlr to rca adaptors.
As I'm feeding it with a single ended pre,
Would there be any difference between using these adaptors to the 'correct' method of xlr shorting links and then using the rca sockets ?

You know, I recon I should be calling you 'Lord Nelson' 😉
As for this adaptor.
1 - 3 - gnd are all connected to rca shield, 2 goes to rca signal.
I've been using it since I got the amp (1 year ?) without issue.
I was just curious if there was any reason (technical or sonic) that I should change it to the 'correct' way.
But, you've answered that so, many thanks.
