Pass amp noob questions

WOW....thanks for that Zum911. I dont know where I was looking but I was searching forever on the PASSdiy site and that explains why I didn't see it.

That Aleph 1 and 2 are beasts. WOW

Are all the Pass labs discontinued model amps able to made DIY style?

I am liking all the amps here and it would appear that anything I would like to have amplified can be done with the Pass amps. I have no intentions of building a X1K but it would be awesome if I could try one for my subs in the future. I would obviously have built a much smaller Pass labs amp before I try and crazy wattage like the X1K but just thinking out loud.

And what is needed to use a single 2 channel amp to Biamp a pair of loudspeakers?

I know I read some where in the many many pages of info on the Pass site but dont remember where.

Thanks again everyone.

Wow those aren't cheap but if they work thats all that matters. I haven't a clue what all these parts are going to cost me but as long as I dont have to spend the amount of a brand new pass I will be happy.

Would love to have some of the new .5 series but thats just not gonna happen unfortunately.

Are the only differences between the Aleph 1.2-5 the amount of power they put out?

I am mainly thinking a F3 for now but just want to learn some stuff.

Oh and is it hard to do speaker connections like the one in this pic
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

I really like the way they connect instead of the traditional binding posts.

Marra are all the above linked PCB surface mount?

Mine weren't.I used a standard capacitor power supply not the choke one shown on the website.
Search for Mark Finnis. He did an Aleph 5 using Conrad heatsinks and a home etched ciscuit board. If I can find the link I'll post it.

Wow thanks for that Marra. That help me out alot being that a guy in OZ built one from parts available here.

When building any of these amps would a signal from an AVR be alright?

I was thinking it should be fine but I just have the cheapest Denon (AVR 1509) and dont know how much better a high quality preamp would sound like. PLUS its what I have for now.

Just found out that I could use an Oppo 95 for the decoding and then straight to the amps for HT. Other wise I can build a preamp then use the Oppo for playback. Would there be anything wrong with a preamp to Oppo then to amps?

Its the only way I can think of a way to keep from having to connect and reconnect when watching movies and listening to 2 channel.
