Dear all,
I would like to know if someone has experience of pass amps driving ESL 63's
I am trying to decide which kit to purchase.
And which would suit the speakers best.
Kind regards,
Andrew

Not the same, but similar.
A Pass for Maggies?
I know guys with ASL ESLs. They mostly use tubes with high power. One guy uses Lamm, but it's hybrid tube/transistor, I think. Again, it's high power.
F5T v3 monos or A75. There's more support here for the F5T v3. There's boards, cases, mosfets and jfets in the store here.
Hope this helps, but I'm sure some expert will come along shortly.
Vince

Not the same, but different.
A friend of mine has Quad ESL 63's driven by a Lectron JH30 (2 x 15W) for years now.
No problems - sounds great!
cheers

I liked most the F7 clone combined with my ESL57.
But I heard only two days, there was a fault in the high voltage section and now the ESL sleep in the basement waiting for more active days......

Thank you for setting the thread off.
I'm using a NAD 3130 from eBay at £80
I couldn't have afforded to buy the speakers if this amp hadn't at least "worked"
I can use the NAD pre amp stage.
I figure a DIY kit I can have great quality.
And also build it as I can afford the components.
The pass amps have good reviewes reputation
And also the support is important for a novice.
The only question is will the amp drive the speakers.

There is also a "widget". Available from one thing audio in the uk.
This can help solid state amps drive the speakers.
I have no experience of it.

FW F4
I have been driving my Quad 988's with the F4 for years, albeit in a rather small room, 12'x11'. They work pretty well either fullrange od crosjsed over at 80 hz
so a subwoofer takes over the lo frequencies, still better....I have tried this setup in my living room but there the power limitations are evident.

well , with even mentioning of NAD 30W/ch integrated ......... every (non SE) FW amp will drive them better
