Re: Almost Finished Exams...
Let me know when you have some time to arrange to close the deal on two of those Aelph PCBs

opc said:Hi Anthony,
Sorry for my absence the past few days, I'm right in the middle of final exams, and amplifier construction for my final project has been taking up whatever little time was left.
The good news is that the one completed channel of the Aleph 2 has been up and running for three days straight, and it sounds excellent. I still have those extra PCBs which I guess you'll be taking a pair of, but I'll post the details for all that on the trading post.
As for the preamp details, I'll post those in the next few posts with updated PDF files containing a schematic and a PCB layout.
Thanks for being patient, and sorry again for the delay.
Cheers,
Owen Columbus

Catching up...
Anthony,
I just sent you an e-mail with the details for the preamp and some suggestions for the Aleph 2 PCB transaction. Feel free to post any questions about the design, and I'll be glad to answer them as soon as possible.
Jason,
I see you've got yourself a little Canadian flag there, so if you're anywhere near Toronto there's a really great little store called "Supremetronics" ( http://www.supremetronic.com )downtown on Queen St. They carry a whole assortment of premade chassis that are pretty much perfect for any amplifier or preamp, and they really are pretty cheap. The two chassis I'm using for my preamp cost me $32 CAD each, and they're pretty much the best value I've ever seen. The display units look pretty beaten up, but they only sell brand new ones in the box, so don't let that worry you.
The faceplates you saw on the gallery page are actually just custom replacements for the fronts on a pair of chassis I bought from Supreme. Each face plate has well over 6 hours of mill time on it, making a group buy unlikely unless people are willing to pay $400 a piece for them. The 1" x 4" x 21" chunk of aluminum I started with cost $100 before I even clamped it to the milling machine.
Hopefully this helps you with your search!

I have used Chassis's from Supremetronics several times, I usually go to Metal Supermarkets and have them cut me a new base plate using the old one as a template.
