I am in a process of acquisition of a Pass Aleph 4. I was not specifically after Aleph 4, any would have been welcome, but the seller was responsive, and there you have it.
I have a couple of questions on Aleph 4:
1. What is it "raison d'être"?
I believe only Mr Nelson Pass (and his marketing people?) may be able to respond to this, still I ask. Aleph 4 seems to be basically a disadvantaged sibling of Aleph 2s - or is there more to Aleph 4 than meets the eye?
2. Load resistance:
Aleph 4 appears to be optimised for 8 Ohm, possibly 8-4 Ohm, but not below that.
If I ever have a more difficult load, what about putting a ~150W AUTOFORMER with 8-5.86-4-2.83-2 Ohm taps between Aleph 4 and the load?
I bet that Sowther or Lundahl could wind a pair, couldn't they?

Nope. we had customers who wanted a stereo amplifier in that package.

All the Alephs after the 0 were optimized for 8 ohms.

You could try it....

Thank you for the reply!
it is reassuring to see that yo are as responsive as ever:
~ 20 years ago I asked for a schematic of Aleph 0s and you sent me a PDF; I still cannot solder, and that project never materialised (my craftsman friend proved not entirely reliable).
I will explore the autoformer question, they seem to be frowned upon and neglected.

The Aleph 4 was a case of many people asking for it and then staying away in droves. The model number was also not good for some markets.
You got the point of 4 number, here it is a very rare case you find floor number 4 🙂The Aleph 4 was a case of many people asking for it and then staying away in droves. The model number was also not good for some markets.
