Parasound HCA-2205a - no output from any channel?

Hi everyone,

I have the above mentioned amp which was working fine but overnight, I now have no audio from any input/output? From the front-panel it looks fine and it is not in any kind of protection mode. I've measured all the output fuses on each amplifier board and they are fine too with next to no DC offset present on any output.

I can't seem to find a service manual/cct diagrams for this so any help/advice would really be appreciated.

Thanks

@turborat - did you manage to resolve your protection problem with the Parasound HCA2205A ?
I'm working on a HCA-2205A at the moment, with an intermittent protection issue; it randomly switches from 'Normal' to 'Standby' mode cutting audio to all channels when it does, otherwise, everything seems to be working well. I think I've narrowed it down to a couple of likely components, but wondered if you had any extra info re. your example ?

Have the exact same issue with a 2205 right now... Did you get yours fixed?

@K-amps - it was from a friend actually, but yes, it was some kind of intermittent fault with one of the RC202 bridge rectifiers (D30 - the rectifier in the protection circuit). The solder joints looked ok but I replaced the rectifier anyway and it's been back to normal and working fine for the past 6 months or so.

Awesome. I did recap and reflow all solder joints in that board. I see my RC202 runs a little hot. I will replace it with 4a or 6a bridges to have them run cooler and see if it fixes the issue. I repaired another one by replacing the large 1000uF cap near it, it had to have gone dry due to being next to this hot rectifier.

Now to order parts

Thank you.

If you recap it, use Panasonic EB series. They're extremely reliable and not expensive, bought from digikey. I work on alot of Parasound and these are the caps I prefer, mainly because they don't change the character of the sound.
