Parasound HCA 2200ii Inquiries

Hi,

Been searching the site about Parasound HCA 2200ii but did not find any schematic. I would like to ask about capacitors rated 0.05K 250 FULL PSB.
I'm listening to music then the power went down. After power up, I turn on the amp running few minutes but seen spark on the right channel. I turn off the amp immediately. I didn't test yet the components but would like to know where I can get the schematic and parts. See pictures.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi,

Maybe it's just me but the bottom of the PCB under those 0.05K 250 caps looks cracked in several places.

Hi dblack4,

It's not a crack, it is solder of components. Here's the back of the PCB.
I tried replacing the defective capacitor but get burned again.
I already got the schematic from Tony of Parasound and the affected components are C516-C521.
I'm not sure what type of capacitors are these. The defectives are the axial types.

I replaced capacitors C517-C521 with same type even if the replaced components are still good.
Tried testing it and seems okay now. Listen at low volume for about an hour with no issues.

Hi jsleonardo,

Which capacitors did you use as a replacement? Bit off topic here, but i am thinking about recapping the lot since I am having an audible hum through the speakers. You might find this thread also interesting.

I think I identified all capacitors mentioned in this thread, but I am having trouble indicating which transistors are being meant. It could be the Q501 and Q502 I am seeing on your pictures above. Any ideas?

Regards

Arthur

I sorted my hum problem when I found a few earthing problems. There is a lead that goes from the aluminium earthing plate that sits on top of the big filter caps and goes to the amps base plate. I noticed that there was a masked patch (bare metal) on one of the mounting screw positions on the base plate but that the earth lead was attached to a screw position that was actually painted. (These screws mount the sheet metal legs that support the aluminium plate, its hard to get at!). I moved that lead, tightened the screws on the plate itself and that fixed it. Absolutely silent now.
