Parasound C/DP 1000 CD player. The LCD diaplay is missing some numbers. Each time the on/off switch is turned on it the display changes different characters & unusaul display format. Anyone know how to fix it. I am waiting on the capacitors on the LCD board. Second, it may be the diodes by the power supply section. I am replacing most s associated with the power supply. The 4 diodes are silicon but can not find the value. D3 V51 markings??
Could be a tough one to crack...
The only picture I can find showing the display lit seems to show a VFD (vacuum fluorescent display) which means the display driver chip will be a separate from the display.
First question has to be is this what is in yours? rather than the horrible Philips thick film LED module.

I suppose it could be a PSU issue although usually those problems relate to the voltages the display needs and they typically just cause dim display issues. The driver chip is going to be either that big one on the board or one we can't see directly under the display. It will be the one all the legs on the display go to.
Ideally you should use a scope and look at the supplies to the driver chip, also make sure any clock signals are present (and clocks running) and that the chips 'reset' pin is in the correct state and a clean voltage.

The driver is the big chip. Link will (should) work)

1.Check GND to VP voltage (TP19 to pin 8 CN110) is equal -29VDC
2.Check GND to F voltage (TP19 to pin 7 and TP19 to pin 6 CN110) is equal -24,5VDC
3.Check F1 to F2 voltage (CN110 pin 6 to pin 7) is equal 3,1VAC
4.Look for cold soldering points between IC301 LC6554 and display
5.Find a donor. I had to make my own control board in a similar case.
