My dipole speakers have 4 ohm AMT tweeters and I wish to get another amp to enable parallel hookup and >15 watts output per driver. However, I am confused in that somewhere I read a Y connector to each amp was required, as well as using all the output binding posts. In the construction manual, only a single input to the amp is used. Is this due to wiring of the binding posts? I much prefer what I see in the manual.

Sorry, I did not realize there was more than one amp on this thread. It's the Ampcamp 1.8 and I just looked at the back panel photos in the online manual. I built one a couple of years ago.
When I am alone in the house, I sometimes crank it to levels my wife would shriek at. Just another reason to smile. I do believe a bit more power would be beneficial in those circumstances.

If they are the Heil AMT's you can get 98-100 db at 3 meters with a watt. Studies suggest that prolonged exposure much over 70dB is not good for your ears. And 120db will is immediate, non-reversable damage. Do be careful
I'd try it first with one amp on one channel, then decide if you want/need another.

Nelson, I laughed for a while! Been a SF/Fnt fan for 75 years and nobody ever said that to me. Made my father's day! BTW, in the parallel mode, is the reduced distortion stated in the DIY chart at 1 watt (important) or at full output (irrelevant)? FYI, I still enjoy the dipole woofers I built modeled by you. Problem is my AMTs measure ~3.3 ohms, so the amp is probably putting out 3-4 watts/channel, which may not be enough for occasional peaks that steady state measurements do not account for. I was mulling over what you suggested, so your comment has given me impetus to try it.
tjw59: thanks for your concern. At my age (old, really) A Bullet Bites the Dust at 95 dB is not a game changer but it really rocks. As you may know, the intensity of noise exposure is a time weighted thing until you get to instant damage, a pressure level that my set cannot achieve. Nor do I have any interest in trying. I do have the largest ESS AMT which they state puts out 96 dB at 1 watt at 1 meter. I do not know of any statistic of this kind at 3 meters.

Totally understand. My speakers dip below 4 ohms also. To me, there are some sonic benefits to running the amps in parallel mono even if I don't really "need" the headroom. I think the lower output impedance and perhaps the lower distortion contribute more than extra headroom in my setup.... but .... It also gives me a bit more confidence to have the power on tap. Headroom is good. One advantage of running higher power single ended amps with high sensitivity speakers is that you can hear the First Watt. 🙂
