Parallel Aleph 3 or something else...

I'm loving my Aleph 3, but unfortunately I need it louder. My speakers are about 87db, and I'm using a B1 preamp. I really like the sound, it would just be nice to have a little extra.

So, I'm thinking about paralleling a second Aleph 3, or moving up to something larger. Will paralleling the amplifiers make much of a difference? Or should I be looking at an F5 or X?

Thank you in advance.

Depends on what the limiting factor is.
If it's current then yeah paralleling will help.
If it's voltage then no. You will need a balanced firstwatt amp (I'm assuming you DIY your amps)

Just do the test for yourself, since you already have the amp.

easy to test

cable with 3.5 headphone jack on one end and two RCA on other

connect either your boombox , laptop , smartphone to Aleph input , and try do you then have satisfactory SPL , taking in account somewhat lesser sound quality from chosen source

Thank you all for the great suggestions and information. I think I'm going to jump straight to a different preamp. That seems to be the consensus. After reading up on the BA-3, it sounds like a no brainier for me. Besides, I haven't made anything in a couple months so I'm due.
