Paradigm Phantom replacement tweeter choice

Thanks! So it is not a D'Appolito-style box with woofers sitting above and belo the tweeter, yet both woofers are run in parallel acoustically. Electrically, they may be 4 Ohms types run in series or 16 Ohms types run in parallel, but that does not matter, for the circuit would look like this: Inductor in series with woofers, parallel to woofers 7.8R in series with 22uF, woofers - and tweeters + at amplifier -, tweeter in series with 4.7uF. Is there wool or foam stuffing inside the box, it should, but i do not see any.

Paradigm phantom wool/foam padding

Attached is a pic of the enclosure as it looked with the padding in it. Sorry I should have sent that earlier. Thanks Brad

O.k., this is enuff padding. I want to fully understand the construction, and there are still open questions: How was the old tweeter built, there must be more parts to it than the two, you have shown? How are drivers and textile cover mounted to the baffle and the baffle to the box? Also a pic of the woofers, one showing its back-side, would be nice. You should resize pictures before uploading them or just set your camera to record smaller pictures, 800x600 will do.

Those are 6.5" polycone basses. Doubtless wired in parallel for efficiency.

I've guessed the filter as much as I can here. Looks like somebody's 91dB tweeter suggestion is a good one. If that resistor is about 3.3R in the tweeter section, it would confirm that. I'm struggling to read the bass section resistor, so ran with 7.5R.

So some new efficient 91dB 8 ohm 1" tweeter, and Bob's your Uncle, as they say. You could adjust level easily enough in that tweeter filter. Every ohm takes it down 1dB.

Hi, I do not like this crossover proposal of thine, system7, because it a) doubles pulse distortion, b) lowers sensitivity, and c) worsens response of power versus frequency. I thot to propose to INDEMNEDIFIDO to modify a pair of 10cm tweeters for and send to him, but tho that were the sonically best solution, provided that tweeters do not burn again, it may be unrealistic, mostly for the last provision. So my remote proposal is this Peerless 6R 1"-dome horn-loaded tweeter with 15R/5W in parallel, and this parallelity in series with 3.3R/5W and the already existing 4.7uF capacitor.
