I haven’t but removing the lower portion of the insulation to match yours helped open up the bass a bit and restored some depth and balance.
They also seem, in my room, to like sitting closer to the back wall.
Wonder if the old electrolytic caps are holding back the bass too? No matter what I do, besides closer to back wall, the bass rolls off below 60hz before coming back up around the 32ish hertz port tuning frequency.

A degraded XO might effect the bass, but a nearfield dip around 60hz seems strange. I would have expected a degraded cap (partial open or partial short) to have a more wideband effect. I'm tempted to pull the XO in mine and test it, since the components are nearly 40yrs old. I could also run an impedance sweep on the entire speaker to check for XO issues.
