PAM8610 Amp distortion

Hi all. I'm super new to this game, but so loving the building and science. I purchased this lil' guy and am generally ok with the sound except for a distortion that seems more present at lower volumes. It is especially noticeable with quieter or acoustic music. I'm not sure if it's just the nature of this low end style of amp, or if I damaged something in my two hours of testing. I'm using a 12v wall wart, and have tried a 9v which didn't seem to power the amp at all. Just lacking knowledge and getting frustrated. Any advice or ideas would be super appreciated. Thank you.

Sorry to hear of your woes. I don't know much about this amp but for another $2 get this amp from PE. It is the best sounding $10 amp available IMO (shared by many in this forum). You can't go wrong and it is absolutely clean up to 8 watts. The TPA3110D2 is a close cousin of the well regarded 3116 which as you can see has a huge following.

If you are not opposed to class AB chip amps, the $5 "Lunch Money" amp (TDA7297) also sounds very nice. I have a bunch of them and use them wherever I need clean sounding 10 watts of power.
