Anyone worked on a PA system for a circus?
Loud snare and crashing cymbals are part of the show.
How loud is the sound at the center of the ring?
Does it distract the artists and animals?
Just curious.
Regards.

The PA horns face away from the centre of the high top.
The PA horns are hung from the centre pole and face the audience to give wide dispersion and coverage,
Some perveyors use sound reinforcement around the edge of the ring on the floor to give bass response.
Symbols do not need much reinforcement but lower notes and speech does.

I custom designed and built the PA for Moscow Circus when they toured Argentina in the 80´s.Anyone worked on a PA system for a circus?

Since I wanted independence from ambient acoustics, which are horrible, and high SPL for the Public, but as low as possible inside the "stage" to minimize feedback problems, I used a distributed array of tall and narrow columns all around , one every 5 meters, hanging from the roof structure by chains, at some 10 meters high and tilted down 45 degrees pointing straight at the seats.
Plus matching 15" subwoofers under the seats for drum rolls, cannon shots, etc.
Sound was bone crushing at the seats, much lower inside the "ring", did not bother Artists or animals.
Tent was 45 meters wide, 95 meters long, height from 15 meters around to 25 meters at the center, an acoustic nightmare, so I made everybody get straight relatively close field sound.
They were very happy with it and carried it to the next Tour leg, to Mexico.
