I am wanting to build something portable for softball tournaments. I have noticed that most of the bought units I see people using are actually pa systems. Could I build one of these things cheaper than I could buy one or get much better quality sound building it myself.
It needs to be self powered, can also have a cord when electricity is available. Needs a small footprint and also needs to be bluetooth capable. I have some experience in car audio but nothing as far as building from scratch. Could someone give me some ideas of components to look at. Thank you

hi. as you're used to car audio you may be interested to know i knocked up a party speaker using an old lanzar mnx250 car amp screwed to the back of an old beaten up pa speaker. Powered it with an ikea lighting transformer (the type that has spots suspended on 2 wires) that output 12v ac. Used a salvaged bridge rectifier and capacitor to rectify the ac to dc. glued/screwed it all inside safely, fitted a kettle plug socket on the back to power the transformer. sound is acceptable and is very loud. if i need it truly free i can connect a motorbike battery to the amp as its easily accessible (on the back) seems to fit your criteria except the portability. Bluetooth could be added with a cheap adaptor plugged in to the amp inputs (about £5?) i will be fitting 2 wheels and a handle on mine to wheel it about, though its not that heavy. Hope that gives you some ideas. would post some picks but i'm new so not sure how to yet. Disclaimer. Needless to say don't attempt anything with electricity/electronics unless you know how to deal with it safely..!!
