Hi
Can anybody out there tell me if it is possible to fit a HDCD
module into a Pink Triangle Ordinal
I see the module physically fits, but requires jumper settings
and as PT no longer exist no one seems to have this info
so any help would be most welcome. Alano

Alano,

Yes you can fit the HDCD filter to the Pink Triangle Ordinal, I’m sorry I can’t remember the jumper settings – you only have 3 to change – which means 9 combinations – my memory seems to say all removed (or was it all fitted!) – or just 2 fitted. Don’t worry, as the Ordinals designer, I can guarantee that you can’t damage the unit if you get them wrong – just load noise / distortion (keep the volume low while you power up after each try. Remove the power first before changing jumper settings!

Two jumpers fitted from the top bank down seem the most likely from memory – but it was more then 10 years ago!

Good luck, let me know – If you like the 22 Bit filter then the HDCD is better – my favourite was the HDCD – it gives the most “neutral” sound with best sound stage along with the 22 Bit, followed by the 18 Bit. In my opinion – the 20 Bit & 1307 where the most coloured – a bit like the Linn sound – heavy almost one note Bass and no sound stage.

There where always 2 camps – the 18, 22 & HDCD lovers or the 20Bit & TDA1307 lovers – no middle ground – audio is a very strange beast – at the end of the day, I guess that’s what makes us human….

Hi Alano,

One more combination from memory - top and bottom jumper fitted.... if still no luck, remember only 9 combinations - say 1 per minute, you will have the correct jumper settings within 10 minutes at most.

Sorry I could not be of more help - but remember, you cannot damage the unit by incorrect jumpers settings.

When your lucky, enjoy your HDCD filter - and let me know...

Hi John

In the end I ended up buying this Ordinal just for giggles, still very musical and a great way to up my TV dvd sound.

It only has one input module fitted. Is there a simple hack to add another input?

Need not be super duper, just for my satellite TV box.

Hi,
Thanks for replay. That was first thing that came to my mind, so I did check it twice with PCB marks. It seems to be OK?
Mayby one of the caps is bad? They were brand new so I did not bother with checking all 24 psc. Any other thoughs😕?
