G'day
Can anyone point me in the direction of an Australian supplier for Tangband W3-871?
And if anyone has heard them with and without the notch filter as given by John's Audio Projects I would like to hear your opinion.

Hi Jye,
I can´t give you a supplier (except german ones) but am soon about two finish two different designs with the W3-871S.
One is the small speaker seen on John´s audio projects page and the other will be a ML-TQWT.
As these are my first projects it´ll take about another week to finish them and give you a report about the sound.
Cheers

So here they are.
Still I haven´t played around with them alot.
Just listening at the moment.
There´s no cap or notch filter as described on John´s audio page.
I´m a bit worried I´ll stress them too much with bass they can´t reproduce anyway but they´re still playing.
As you can see I´m using them nearfield-wise and for that purpose they seem to be perfect.
Just the lower bass (in their range) seems a bit boomy in places but that might be the glass table or wall as well. Gotta play more.
I also plan to add a cap at least (100u-330u) to keep them below the "fluttering level" at high volume.
As you can see on the picture there´s my desktop and a photograph of both designs. Hopefully the ML-TQWT is even better than John´s....
If you´re planning them as your main speakers it might be worth to use two drivers as I read it quite often.
Maybe you´ve seen the ELF1.5 design as well and Jim Griffin´s award winning design.
